Maria Bieșu was an opera soprano from Moldova, born in Volintiri, renowned for iconic roles such as Tosca, Madame Butterfly, Aida and Turandot. She became the prima donna of the National Opera in Chișinău, earned prestigious honors (People’s Artist of the USSR, Order of the Republic, Order of the Star of Romania), and founded the International Festival “Maria Bieșu”.
