About the performance:
The director Avtandil Varsimashvili realized his own version of the Tolstoy’s novel, showing wisdom acquired through suffering, how ugly and helpless is the old age and death, wich no one can escape. It is, also, a story about love, compassion and nobility. All of these are seen, first of all, in Kholstomer’s character, in the way he is presented by the director. He is overwhelmed by some memories from his difficult life, under the yoke of the old age, at death’s door. Life taught him a lot of things, but the most important are the patience and tolerance toward the world’s imperfections and human weakness.
