A confrontation for power, where every movement becomes a strike, a gesture, or an emotion that can change the fate of the characters. Check/Mate brings to the stage the intensity of a battle that is fought not only on the chessboard, but also in the souls of those involved.
Through spectacular acrobatics, fight scenes, and moments of fragility and glory, the performance transforms the actor’s body into the main instrument of expression. The audience is carried through a carousel of adrenaline, suspense, and emotion, discovering how the desire for power can turn into obsession and how victory may bring consequences entirely different from what was expected.
With an evocative scenography, and a soundtrack that amplifies every feeling, Check/Mate becomes a powerful visual and emotional experience – a performance about struggle, sacrifice, and human fragility in the face of the temptation of power.
We invite you to the festival to experience this fascinating story, where theatre, dance, and acrobatics intertwine in a unique stage creation.

E-Motion a Festival where the actor's body speaks
✨ International Theatre of Physical Theatre E-Motion ✨
Chișinău - 13-16 november 2025
For the first time, the Republic of Moldova hosts an event entirely dedicated to the art of the body, physical theatre, and non-verbal expression. E-Motion is more than a festival – it is a living platform where the art of movement becomes a universal language. Conceived as a dialogue between performance and education, the event brings to Chișinău top international productions and free workshops for artists, students, and theatre enthusiasts.
On the E-Motion stage, companies from Ukraine, Italy, Romania, and the Republic of Moldova will perform. Beyond the stage, E-Motion offers practical workshops for artists and all those interested in exploring art through embodiment, authenticity, and human connection, presented by artists from Ukraine, Italy and Israel. The festival aims to build bridges between artists and audiences, to nurture a new generation of spectators, and to promote values such as empathy, freedom, and solidarity through the art of movement.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova and the Swiss Cooperation Office in the Republic of Moldova, within the framework of the project “Dialogue through Movement – Cultural Integration through Physical Theatre.”
