Have you ever noticed that your news feed seems more “real” than the view from your window? We buy things not for their usefulness, but for the story they tell about us.
Jean Baudrillard — a philosopher who grasped the essence of modern life before social media existed. He declared the death of reality and the birth of hyperreality, where we are surrounded by simulacra — copies that never had an original.

In this lecture, we will explore:

• Why Disneyland exists only to hide the fact that all of America is a theme park.
• How media manipulates our perception of disasters and wars.
• Why The Wachowskis’ The Matrix is only a pale shadow of Baudrillard’s ideas.
• How to avoid losing yourself in a world where everything is just decoration and digital code.
