Duel of Elegance: Rară Neagră & Pinot Noir

September 18
7:00 PM
Wine Republic – 86 Alexei Șciusev St., Chișinău
Price: 400 MDL

Two grape varieties, one stage

Rară Neagră – the symbol of Moldovan tradition, and Pinot Noir – the aristocrat of Burgundy, come together in a unique duel of elegance.

At first glance they may seem different, yet their similarities are striking:
• Both express finesse and elegance, avoiding the raw strength of robust wines.
• Velvety tannins and delicate structures, highlighting subtlety rather than intensity.
• Red fruit aromas, with notes of cherries, strawberries, or raspberries, often accompanied by floral and spicy touches.
• High sensitivity to terroir – both Rară Neagră and Pinot Noir faithfully reflect the soil and climate in which they grow, offering unique expressions from region to region.

Why this duel?

We chose to organize this tasting to show that our local wines can stand proudly alongside some of the most respected international grape varieties. Rară Neagră, once nearly forgotten, is now reborn, proving itself worthy of the global stage. Pinot Noir, with its delicate and noble reputation, remains an icon of refinement.

Together, these two varieties create a bridge between tradition and universality, proving that Moldova can offer wines with the same nobility and expressiveness as the world’s most famous regions.
