✨ RARĂ NEAGRĂ vs BĂBEASCĂ NEAGRĂ
Blind Wine Tasting

26 February | 19:00
Wine Republic – 86 Alexei Șciusev Street
Price: 550 lei

Some grape varieties belong not only to a place, but to an entire history. Rară Neagră and Băbească Neagră are in fact the same ancient indigenous grape from the Romanian wine-growing region, with origins dating back to the Middle Ages. In the Republic of Moldova it is traditionally called Rară Neagră, while in Romania it is known as Băbească Neagră — the different names reflect historical regional traditions rather than genetic differences.

The variety is appreciated for its natural elegance: ruby-colored wines with lively acidity, soft tannins, and characteristic aromas of cherries, red berries, plums, and subtle spicy notes. This finesse makes it especially fascinating for comparative tastings.

We invite you to a blind sensory experience where you will discover how terroir and winemaking styles can transform the expression of the same grape variety.

During the evening you will taste:
3 Rară Neagră wines from the Republic of Moldova
3 Băbească Neagră wines from Romania

The selection is curated by our chief sommelier Vadim Brînzeanu, who will guide you through this engaging comparison of two identities of the same grape.

The tasting will be accompanied by carefully selected food pairings.
